In a 1977 song by John Paul Young he sang…
“Love is in the air, everywhere I look around Love is in the air, every sight and every
sound. And I don’t know if I’m being foolish Don’t know if I’m being wise But its
something that I must believe in”
If we applied that song to the Bonnycastle Club I think most would agree Love is in the
Air here at the Bonnycastle. From the groups that play cards, meet after work, show up
everyday to see a friend, come out to the many dinners we host, those that call to check
up on members they haven’t seen in a while. To the hurt I’ve seen in the past few
weeks when we lost long time members. I know we have love in the air here at the
Bonnycastle Club.
Make a list of some of the things you love about the Bonny. I’ll share a few of mine.
• The friends I’ve made, these are friends I would have most likely never met.
• The great food our members prepare and serve with a smile on their face.
• Paulie,Will and Bobby for the Bonnycastle pour and the friendship you receive from
them, making you feel at home.
• A nice clean place to meet friends and family, and during the pandemic is huge.
• Activities that Chris, Larry, Mike and Slim and many others work so hard to have
something special to participate in almost weekly.
• Major Events, Golf Scramble, St. Patricks Day, Christmas Eve, Derby Day, New Year’s
Day, Dartball events for the kid’s and our efforts to raise funds for those that are not as
blessed as most of us.
• Did I mention the great drinks!
Most of the items on my list involves volunteers, the most basic thing that drives the
Bonnycastle to be what it is and that we strive to keep. Please consider donating your
time to keep the Bonnycastle as good or better than when we joined the Club. Recently
a new Member, Mitch Huff offered to make an Italian Dinner, for everyone. Mitch
showed up with his wife, two sons and a few friends, if you were not able to attend you
really missed out on a outstanding dinner. I’m looking forward Mitch’s next effort.
As everyone continues to fight COVID, please do your part when visiting the Club. Wear
your mask, wash your hands, social distance, stay home if you are not feeling well.
