Wow, I can’t believe its April already. Where has the year gone? Its springtime in Louisville and we all know what that means: General Membership Meeting, NCAA Final Four, Derby festivities and last but not least the annual Dart-ball Banquet. There is always something to do at the club. Some of the best times I have are when I just stand back and look at all the smiling faces at the club during an event or activity.
I am pleased to announce that I have received multiple compliments on how well the St. Patty’s Day party turned out. Some people felt it was our best party yet. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who were on the planning committee. The newly implemented security measures were appreciated by all. We want the club to be a safe friendly place and everybody to have a great time. The Board heard your suggestions, implemented them for all to enjoy the club.
In the next week or two, we will have a mover coming to the club as we are going to place the gaming machines into storage. Committees are diligently working on developing future entertainment activities for the membership to enjoy. One of the biggest nights at the club last month was, believe it or not, a corn hole tournament. The Derby Day Party will have our traditional events for all to participate in.
As we can see the year is flying by and before you know it the club will be celebrating our 100th year anniversary. The 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee is in full swing and planning a year-long celebration. The celebration will feature monthly events. I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises; however, in the spirit of social responsibility, being a steward of mother earth and leaving a footprint for all to see we are working on an activity that will allow the entire community to see the legacy of the Bonnycastle Club for another 100 years.
The General Membership Meeting is on April 2nd. If you want to discuss something of importance to the membership, I encourage you to come out and participate. Get involved; be engaged, be a part of the club. The club is only as vibrant as the amount people involved. There is no greater pleasure than seeing members participating in and enjoying an activity that they spearheaded on their own.
Again, please do not hesitate to call me should you wish to discuss any of the items above further or wish to discuss another subject.
Yours truly,
Larry F. Marko
Bonnycastle Club President
