It’s May in the Derby City. We all know what that means. Spring has arrived (finally) and we will celebrate the most exciting 2 minutes in sports at the annual Bonnycastle Derby Party. The event is almost sold out and will be accompanied by the usual festivities and food.
However, the fun doesn’t stop there!
Back by popular demand is Open Mic Night. Last Open Mic was a huge success and we were able to see the hidden talents of many of our members. Who knew we have some famous, and former famous, musicians amongst us? Can Open Mic night can surpass the ever popular Karaoke night? There will be food available prior to this event. Trying something different this month, come out to our 1st Tequila Tasting Night!
Hope to see you at the Club for one of these many exciting events.
The Board selected a proposed bar renovation plan which we are now trying to assemble a budgetary price. The concept was laid on the table for people to review and comment on. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask a board member. The club looks great thanks to the efforts of the house committee; however, we are keeping the momentum going.
In the efforts of social and charitable acts, Bill Reisert is once again hosting a Golf Shamble benefiting “Camp Quality”. Camp Quality serves children with cancer and their families by providing year-round programs, experiences, and companionship, at no cost. Camp Quality promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential. Let’s see if we can have a record crowd and support this worthy cause and make cancer only a chapter in these children’s lives and not the whole story.
With all these great events we need volunteers. The club is based on volunteerism. We even still need some volunteers for Derby Day. The more people volunteer the better the club becomes. Remember, volunteering knows no age limit! Individually we accomplish little acts; together we can accomplish great things. If you wish to get involved or can even help this weekend please give me a call or e-mail.
Thank you, and Happy Derby!
Yours truly,
Larry Marko
